The I-15/US 95 Demonstration Project is an initiative by the Nevada Department of Transportation to examine effectiveness, value and functionality of managed lanes and to confirm the suitability of Public-Private Partnership for Nevada as a part of the overall Pioneer Program’s goal to provide much needed highways to the State in the face of funding deficits.NDOT has developed an organizational structure, process, project screening criteria and policies to assess, evaluate and implement projects under the Pioneer Program. The Demonstration Project, located within the US 95/I-15 corridor in Las Vegas, meets the Pioneer Program’s criteria for a viable project.

Key elements of the Demonstration Project include:

  • Conversion of HOV/Express Lanes to Managed Lanes
  • Congestion Pricing for vehicles with less than 3 occupants
  • Free lane use for public transit, emergency vehicles, and pre-registered vehicles with more than 3 occupants
  • Video Enforcement
  • Limited truck access (3-axle or larger prohibited)
  • Improvements and construction for access, interchange and Managed Lane facilities within the corridor.

The Demonstration Project helps ensure that I-15 continues to support the economic vitality of the region. It presents opportunities to leverage private investment in the development, operations and maintenance of highway projects.
